PART OF SPEECH
Each part of speech explains not what the word is, but how the word is used.
There are 9 parts of speech :
1. Verb
Example : read, write, give, sing, talk,
laugh, run, ... (etc).
2. Noun
- Concrete Noun
Example : table, class, gold, army,
book, chair, Robert (na
mes of person), Lion (na
mes of animal), car, Ban
na (names of fruit), ...
(etc)
- Abstract Noun
Example : soul, love , life , health,
wealth, ... (etc)
3. Pronoun
Example : her head, your face, his arm,
my hand
4. Adjective
Example : great, small, b pretty, white
(names of colour), high, low,
full, empty, bright, old, young,
hot, ... (etc)
5. Adverb
Example : now, yesterday, today, tomorr
ow, morning, night, twice, alw
ays, nearly, quickly, yard, sch
ool, Jakarta (names of place),
shop, river, stadium, ... (etc)
6. Preposition
Example : in, on, at, to, by, or, from, with
out, of, before, off, till, after,
behind, into, under, above, ...

7. Conjunction

Example : or, else, either ... or, oth

9. Article
Example : the, a, an
AFFIXATION
- Affixation
is the process where we take a base form word and we add aa prefix, infix, or suffix.
Example :
Unconditionally 》un + conditional + ly
Unspeakable 》un + speak + able
Subconsciously 》sub + conscious + ly
- Prefix
is an affixation process that includes adding a morpheme at the beginning of the word.
Example :
Un- Unhappy
Multi- Multicultural
Over- Overwork
Cyber- Cyberspace
Super- Supermarket
- Suffix
is a segment that we add at the end of the word.
Example :
-ish childish
-er teacher
-less tasteless
-ize/ ise idolize/ idolise
-able likeable
- Infix
is what goes between the prefix and the root.
Example :
bloody
